STS and the American College of Surgeons (ACS) offer an annual scholarship to subsidize attendance and participation in the Executive Leadership Program in Health Policy and Management at Brandeis University. 

The 2024 program is scheduled for June 3-8. The scholarship is in the amount of $8,000, which is to be used toward the cost of tuition, travel, housing, and subsistence during the period of the course. 

The award is open to non-resident surgeons who are members in good standing of both STS and ACS. Applicants must be between 30 and 60 years of age on the date that a completed application is filed. Applications are due March 15, 2024. 

General Application Information

A completed online application should include:

  1. Contact information (name, preferred postal address, e-mail address) and attestation.
  2. A single PDF document with:
    • A one-page essay discussing:
      • Why the applicant wishes to receive the scholarship
      • How the scholarship will fill a gap in applicant's training or experience
      • Goals or plans to use the newly acquired knowledge or skills in his/her practice or community
    • A current NIH-style biosketch (five-page maximum)
